During a holiday in Greece we saw a small yacht kitted out for round the world sailing
with the name ‘Second Career’ emblazoned down her side.
For me, I view this circumnavigation, as my third career. I have been fortunate
enough in my previous careers to hone my skills and gather the resources to enable
us to do this journey.
The other essential ingredient is to have a great ‘Mate’. This is an understatement,
when describing Jackie, the other crew member on this trip.
Don’t get me wrong, I love the water, it’s just that most of the miles I’ve clocked
up in the past have been IN the water rather than ON it!
Having gained such a respectable title as ‘Creative Lovey’ on our epic voyage, just
one of my responsibilities includes keeping our readers of this web happy and as
such, any feedback about content/design is always welcome. Visit the Contact page
and post your Comment - it’ll come straight to my ‘Inbox’!
Anyway, I really am not the most patient of individuals and am now ready to crack
on with our adventure ... I cannot wait to get on and build those nautical miles!!
I started sailing as a young boy on
the River Avon and on family holidays at Aberdovey.
Maybe it was those early days in that little Heron dinghy and my avid reading of
the Swallows and Amazons adventures that inspired me to do this journey.
It’s only since I’ve known Adrian that I’ve actually come ‘on board’ (as it were)
with the love of sailing...
